These tees allow you the chance to track BHI Conservancy's satellite-tagged sea turtles. Scarlett the Loggerhead Sea Turtle was tagged here on Bald Head Island by our Sea Turtle Protection Team. This tracking program started in January 2024 with BHI Conservancy's sea turtles and was joined by Inwater Research Group in June 2024 with the addition of 5 satellite-tagged sea turtles. New turtles from both organizations will be added as this program grows!

How Does It Work? 

Every Simply Southern Sea Turtle Tracking T-Shirt includes access to your very own sea turtle to track. Included with your shirt is a card contained inside the packaging that provides your sea turtle's name, size, picture, and a website to access your sea turtle's GPS tracking. On the sea turtle's tracking page, you can follow their incredible journey on an interactive tracking map.

Sea turtles are tagged with GPS tracking devices and this special opportunity is provided by our very own Bald Head Island Conservancy. You will be able to follow along on a map with our Sea Turtle Protection Team to see exactly where your sea turtle has traveled. Best of all, your purchase helps support our Sea Turtle Protection Program.

At times, the GPS tracker on your sea turtle may show “no activity since ——.” This may be due to a few technical reasons—the GPS antenna may be damaged, algae has grown over the sensors that tell the transmitter to send signals, or the batteries that power the transmitter no longer work.
